Thank You Note for Search Committee.

The glorious news broke today that Harvard has selected it’s new President to be Lawrence S. Bacow, a former president of Tufts University and a top academic officer at M.I.T.

Harvard not for sale would like to thank the search committee for hearing our plea to avoid candidates who have shown a pattern of choosing greed and quid pro quo over ethics.

Thank you to all of the stakeholders including students and alumni who have had the courage to stand up against the corporate meddling, abuse of power and corruption which threatens higher education and our beloved institution.

William F. Lee, senior fellow of the Harvard Corporation and the chairman of the search committee, described Mr. Bacow as the right leader “at a moment when the value of higher education is being questioned.”

We couldn’t agree more.

We wish our new President the best of luck and support him wholeheartedly.

Today ethics prevailed. Though this mini battle was won, we will continue the fight to rid our alma mater of corporate meddling for monetary gain.

If Dean Nohira has any dignity for this institution and himself he will hear the cries of the students and respectfully decide to step down as Dean of HBS.

The response to our poll was overwhelmingly clear:  Nohira must not work as Dean of HBS and as a board member of a powerful company that donated to HBS. He cannot serve two masters.

Please choose your sides, Prof or Corporates?
